On behalf of the board, thank you to everyone who participated in our recent membership survey! With a significant increase in responses (51 compared to 11 last year), your feedback provides invaluable insights for improving our chapter offerings. Below is a summary of the key findings and takeaways:

Membership Insights:

  • Nearly 24% of members have been in the security field for less than 10 years, presenting opportunities for professional development, mentoring, and networking initiatives.
  • Leading sectors include contract security (16%), healthcare (12%), and energy (5%),
    • 32% self-identified as other. Future surveys will break down security sub categories to capture additional feedback.

What You Value Most

  • 41% prioritize networking with security professionals.
  • 44% want learning opportunities and expert insights equally.

Meeting Expectations:

  • 41% of respondents value networking with other security professionals.
  • 22% are looking to learn more about various security disciplines.
  • 22% want expert insights on specific areas of interest.

Preferred Meeting Formats:

  • 52% favor speaker presentations, making this the most beneficial format.

Best Days & Times for Meetings:

  • Best Days: Wednesday (31%), Thursday (31%).
  • Best Time: Lunch hours (46%)

Interest in Certifications:

  • 60% are interested in certification pursuits. Popular certifications:
    • 44% CPP

  • Virtual study groups with other Michigan Chapters will be available in the fall to interested members.

Communication Preferences:

  • 69% of members rely on ASIS Detroit emails for updates.
  • 39% visit our website, and 37% follow our LinkedIn page.

Chapter Recommendation:

  • 88% of respondents are likely to recommend joining ASIS Detroit to fellow security professionals.
