ASIS Detroit Chapter Members,
On behalf of the Chapter Board, I’m excited to introduce a new program for our chapter: the NexGen Certification Scholarship.
Starting this year, the Detroit Chapter will award one member the exam fee and test prep materials needed to pursue an ASIS certification designation — a value of approximately $800. This program is designed to invest directly in the next generation of security leaders in our chapter and support their path toward certification.
Who Can Apply
The scholarship is open to NexGen / early-career security professionals under the age of 35 who are Detroit Chapter members in good standing. To be eligible, you should meet (or be on track to meet) ASIS’s experience requirements for the select Certification by the time you’d sit for the exam.
How to Apply
You may nominate yourself or nominate a fellow chapter member (with their knowledge and consent). The nomination form asks for:
– Nominee contact information and LinkedIn profile, or resume sent via email.
– Nominator contact information, if nominating someone else
– A few short-answer questions about the nominee’s current role, career interests, and how the Certification would support their goals
– Desired certification
– Confirmation of eligibility for above marked certification.
The nomination form is attached. When completed, please email the nomination form to arthur.kesteloot@pinkerton.com, nickgoolsby@dksecurity.com, and BSavalle@bcbsm.com
Nomination forms are due 9/15 for review and consideration by the review committee.
How the Recipient Will Be Selected
A small review panel from the Chapter Board will independently review each application against four criteria: commitment to the profession, likely impact on the chapter and local security community, readiness and seriousness to pursue certification, and overall alignment with the goals of the NexGen program.
When You’ll Hear Back
The scholarship recipient will be announced live at our NexGen-themed chapter meeting in October. We hope you’ll join us there to celebrate the inaugural recipient and learn more about the chapter’s growing investment in NexGen programming.
We’re looking forward to seeing a strong slate of nominations for this first year. If you have any questions about eligibility or the process, feel free to reach out.
